Westfalia Nansen: the return to the heart of the Fiat Ducato market
The name Nansen is a nod to the Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen, and succeeds the now-discontinued Amundsen line. With the new Nansen range, Westfalia returns to the heart of the Fiat Ducato market. Our colleagues saw the range live at Caravan Salon Düsseldorf, and the 640LS in particular caught our eye straight away. This model will have its premiere at our stand at Mobicar, before arriving in our showrooms later this year.
640LS: an electric bed that makes way for an XXL garage
The lengthwise bed (140/150 x 190 cm) moves electrically at the push of a button. In its lowest position, it sits just 66 cm off the floor for easy access, and you can adjust the height to suit your needs. Raise the bed all the way up, and a rear garage appears, with a usable height of up to 1.60 m, plenty of room for two e-bikes plus luggage. The garage floor is protected with diamond-plate aluminium and fitted with a tie-down hook. Along the left-hand wall there's also a storage unit that runs almost from floor to ceiling, accessible via sliding doors regardless of the bed's position. For those who occasionally want to travel with a third passenger, an optional single dinette bed can be added at the front.
The 640LS's vario bathroom combines shower and toilet in a single space, with a pivoting partition wall that effectively separates the two functions.
600L: flexible sleeping for the whole family
Where the 640LS opts for a fixed bed, the 600L goes for two flexible transverse bunk beds (130 x 185 cm and 130 x 188 cm), providing 4 sleeping places in total. That makes this more compact floorplan particularly well suited to families, couples or friends travelling together.
The 600L's bathroom follows a different concept from the 640LS: a walk-through layout with the shower on one side and the toilet and washbasin on the other, with partition walls that turn the whole area into a fully private space.
At the rear, the 600L offers a garage with a durable chequer-plate floor, plenty large enough for bulky leisure equipment. Alongside that is a large storage cabinet with a wardrobe section and drawers, for extra, well-organised storage.
Kitchen and comfort on board
Both models share a fully equipped kitchen with worktop, two gas burners and numerous storage compartments. On the 640LS, a Truma Diesel system provides hot water, while the 600L uses a Truma gas system. The fridge difference is bigger than you might expect: the 640LS has a 157-litre compressor fridge with a separate 18-litre freezer compartment, while the 600L has a more compact 90-litre model, with opening from both sides. Both models feature dimmable LED lighting in the living area and premium upholstery for a polished finish. A flyscreen on the sliding door adds extra protection against insects.
Colours and finishes
Both models share the same options. Alongside the standard white, you can choose between Expedition Grey and Lanzarote Grey, with the metallic shades Artense Grey, Iron Grey and Storm Blue available as options. For upholstery, you choose between the Missouri two-material fabric and the Hampton fabric, finished off with 16-inch diamond black alloy wheels.
