On The Road

Family On Boards heads out with the Chausson Nordic Edition 720

Going on the road with the motorhome: that had been on the wish list of @familyonboards (Evi, Gilles, Finn (6y), Felix (3y) and their loyal friend Loki) for a while. They go camping every summer, and now went out with the motorhome for the first time. Read their experience in this blog!

DOING SOME EXPLORING WITH THE MOTORHOME

Every year we go camping in the summer. First we went with the two of us, later with our two children: Finn, who is 6 years old, and Felix, who is 3. Normally we always go on an adventure with the tent, but now Vanomobil gave us the opportunity to go exploring with the whole family, so including our dog Loki, with the motorhome. Our big dream! Vanomobil recommended us the Chausson Nordic Edition 720. We had great expectations and these were fulfilled! It was great, nothing had to and everything was possible.

FULL OF EXCITEMENT TOWARDS LIMBURG

On Friday after school, we left for Limburg full of excitement. First, we made a stopover to sleep around Aarschot. Our first sleeping place: a camping spot among the horses near a play forest. Once we arrived at this place, Finn first went to sort out all the cupboards and corners of the motorhome. He loved seeing where all the hidden places in the motorhome where. Felix installed his teddy bears on his bed. A bunk bed, which can be raised and lowered, was really super fun for them! Finn also took complete care of the toilet arrangements, by always helping us remember that ‘the flap’ should definitely be open. After an hour of playing in the forest and paying a visit to the horses, it was time to put on the pyjamas and crawl into bed. Of course, the kids did want to try out the lamps next to their beds first. It was also very nice that everything could be darkened nicely!

RELAXED ON THE ROAD

The next day, after a nice breakfast in the motorhome, we set off again. Unfortunately, it had rained quite a bit so the path to the campsite was a bit muddy, and we got stuck for a while. With a bit of pushing, pulling and help from the host, we still got away smoothly. The nice thing about our weekend getaway was that we were not at all depending on a timeschedule and we had everything on hand. So we were very relaxed on the road.

A LOVELY TIME IN GENK

On Saturday, we went to Genk. We were able to park smoothly in a motorhome car park, where we could set up our table and chairs in the sun and cosily eat our lunch. Then it was time to play! We went to the Kattevennen recreation park. Since it is so easy to attach the bikes to the bike rack on the motorhome, we took them with us.  Dad and Finn went mountain biking on the track, while Felix and mum played in the sun at the motorhome.

It got later and we went looking for a nice place to sleep, and we found it at the edge of the forest. A little rain didn't stop Finn from playing outside some more. Felix was already in “dreamland” after all that outdoor play and we could just put him to bed. The nice thing about this motorhome was that the part between the bunk bed and the living area could be closed off, so Felix could continue sleeping quietly while the three of us started dinner. After dinner, it was time for Finn to have a shower. He enjoyed that alot! The water had warmed up nicely and all the sand was rinsed off. Time for his bed!

ENJOYING EVERY MOMENT

On the last day, we woke up to the sun shining through the cracks in the shutters. Loki was let out for a small walk and we prepared the breakfast table. We drove back home but stopped at a few places along the way to eat, visit beautiful places and empty the dirty water tank.

Unfortunately, we then had to say goodbye to the motorhome that day! We enjoyed every moment and it definitely made us want more!
