Checklist before you depart

Here’s the most important checklist for your trip! It’s best to go through it before you head out on your rental adventure, but also every time you move from one camper spot to another. With this checklist, you’ll leave without any worries.

Outside of the motorhome:

  • Is everything stored away? (electric cable, water hose, leveling blocks, table, chairs, awning, satellite, are the bikes secured, etc.)
  • Are all storage doors closed?
  • Is the wastewater tank empty?
  • Check mirrors, tire pressure, lighting, etc.

Inside the motorhome:

  • Are windows, cupboards, and roof vents closed?
  • Is everything secured and stored properly? (glasses, kitchen items, cabinet doors, etc.)
  • Tip: Upon arrival, test the heating, boiler, and gas stove.

Tips tijdens het rijden

Driving a camper is completely different from driving a regular car. We’d like to share some tips to help you confidently get behind the wheel!

  • Ask for assistance when reversing!
  • Be mindful of the braking distance.
  • It's 2-3 times longer than a regular car! Take the camper’s swing point into account.
  • During long descents, it’s better to brake with the engine to avoid overheating the brakes.
  • Pulsing the brakes reduces the risk of overheating and gives the brakes a chance to cool down.
  • If the brakes are overheated after a descent, it’s important not to pour water on them. This could damage the brakes!
  • In windy weather, the camper may experience suction or pressure forces, often when overtaking or being overtaken. Steer against it to counteract the effect.
  • With a defensive driving style, driving a camper is enjoyable. Take it easy, you’re on vacation after all.
