600,000th Westfalia: a special milestone for Westfalia and Vanomobil

On Thursday 17 September, Ignace (our managing director) officially received the 600,000th Westfalia: a Club Joker Urban. The ceremony took place in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, the historic home and still the main production site of Westfalia. We've known Westfalia since 2011, the year the brand developed its own range of camper vans and we immediately put ourselves forward as a candidate to distribute these gems in Belgium. That this particular anniversary vehicle came to us is therefore a moment we're especially proud of. The keys and a certificate were presented to Ignace by Can-Kasim Dogan, director of Westfalen Mobil GmbH in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, and Philip Kahm and Thomas Siegert, both directors of Westfalia Mobil GmbH in Gotha.

A factory with 180 years of history

Westfalia has been based in Rheda-Wiedenbrück since 1844, and has been part of the French Rapido group since 2010. During an exclusive tour of this iconic factory, we got to see not only the production of the Club Joker Urban, but also that of the Mercedes Marco Polo and the Ford Nugget, which Westfalia also builds there. For every camper, the base vehicle passes through 17 production stations: seats are removed and reinstalled, furniture and the water and heating systems are fitted, before final inspection and approval. Westfalia also makes the pop-up roofs itself, in fibreglass-reinforced plastic, sprayed in the colour of choice on request.

A warm welcome

The especially warm welcome from the entire Westfalia management team, along with the national and international press present, made this milestone extra special. The anniversary model itself is a Club Joker Urban on a Ford Transit Custom base, with 170 hp and automatic transmission, seating up to 6 people, of whom a maximum of 4 can sleep on board.

"This isn't just a delivery, it's an honour. Westfalia has been building campers for more than 180 years, and the fact that we, as Vanomobil, got to receive this particular anniversary model says a lot about the relationship we've built with the brand. I can't wait to show our customers this special vehicle at Mobicar." — Ignace Coudron, Vanomobil

Coming soon to Mobicar

The 600,000th Westfalia will soon be on display at our stand at Mobicar in Brussels Expo, from 8 to 11 October.
