Winter sports with a camper, the ideal combination

Campers are no longer a seasonal holiday equipment. Nowadays, campers are perfectly equipped for traveling all year round and can therefore also be used perfectly for a winter sports holiday. The doubts you initially may have will disappear like snow in the sun after reading this blog ;)

The roads to the winter sports destinations are cleared day and night and kept free of snow. So there is a good chance that you can drive there without any problems. Our selection of favorite destinations are one by one destinations that you can reach without too much difficulty. However, that does not alter the fact that it is better to provide winter tires, as they are required by law and insurance in most European countries.

More and more campsites are focusing on winter sports holidays. They offer all the comfort during the winter season to make it an unforgettable camping experience. They know all too well that a camper needs more electricity in the winter than in the summer, so the campsites provide sufficient ampere. In addition to gas heating, you can also easily heat with electricity (just choose a camper-friendly electric fire!). The campsites usually also sell gas bottles, so you will never be without heating. Thanks to a set of adapters from our shop you can easily connect any local type of gas bottle.

To keep the heat in and the cold out as much as possible, it is best to always leave your heating on. Even during your absence, it is best to set the thermostat to 17 degrees, so that the camper heats up again quickly. Moreover, it is the best way to prevent frost damage to your water circuit. To heat as efficiently as possible, it is best to insulate the camper as well as possible. It is best to cover the windshield with a thermal blanket. There is also similar insulation for the rear doors of a campervan or insulation for your pop-up bed. However, do not forget to ventilate the camper regularly (at least twice a day) so that the increasing humidity can escape. This way you stay in a healthy living environment and prevent condensation in the coldest places in the camper.

Winter holidays are accompanied by a lot of wet clothing and wet equipment. The campsites usually provide special storage spaces and drying cabins for this purpose, where you can store your belongings. The garage of your camper can also serve as a perfect drying room, but be sure to provide a container that can collect the moisture. As a last resort, the bathroom can also serve as a drying room! There the material is out of the way and the shower tray catches all the moisture.

Just go through this checklist and then you can go on your snow holiday without any worries!
