Camping Vanomobil 2026 Oudenaarde: an unforgettable weekend of cycling, local beers and great company

Over the weekend of 24 to 26 April, no fewer than 85 Vanomobil campers gathered at The Outsider in Oudenaarde for a long weekend packed with experiences, local products and above all a whole lot of fun. Read all about Camping Vanomobil 2026 right here.

Friday: welcome to the Flemish Ardennes

The campsite at The Outsider turned out to be a perfect choice: a stunning setting in the heart of the Flemish Ardennes, just a stone's throw from the shores of the Donkvijver. On arrival, participants received a goodie bag containing a Solbio tester. Everyone settled into their spots surrounded by cheerfully fluttering Vanomobil beach flags and bathed in glorious sunshine. At 7pm, we welcomed everyone with a drink — the atmosphere was immediately relaxed and convivial. Afterwards, we headed to the event hall for a hearty round of chips and snacks: the perfect end to an arrival day.

Saturday: the grand gourmet cycling tour through the Flemish Ardennes

After a generous group breakfast in the event hall — with Lennert giving a spoken overview of the day ahead — it was time to stretch our legs. At 10:30am, the starting gun was fired for the gourmet cycling tour: a whopping 45 kilometres through the rolling countryside around Oudenaarde.

At the first stop by the lake, we enjoyed a selection of craft regional beers from local brewery Rolling Hills, with a beautiful view over the water. At noon, it was time for a well-earned lunch at Stal Blockeel — filled rolls with a steaming bowl of soup. In the background, the mooing of the many cows and adorable calves of the beautiful farm set the scene perfectly. The second stop, once again by the Donkmeer, was all about true Flemish traditions: an Adriaan Brouwers tart with frangipane, pineapple and apricot, washed down with a local gin from Braeckman. Plenty of choice: apple, cherry, lemon or the classic old grain jenever. Satisfied, everyone made their way back to the campsite to unwind in the peace and sunshine.

In the evening, we gathered for an aperitif and a speech by owners Ignace and Véronique, before sitting down to a warm ham hock with an assortment of cold and warm vegetables in the event hall. The evening wrapped up in style with the Vanomobil Bingo Night, with plenty of prizes up for grabs. Thanks to CADAC, we were able to add a barbecue to the prize pool. There was plenty of laughter, cheering and excitement!

Sunday: barista coffee, a walk and BBQ in the sun

Sunday started in thoroughly spoiled fashion: Ruwelka, our insurance partner, treated everyone to a sweet mini-breakfast and proper barista coffee. What a luxurious way to kick off the day!
After that, it was time for a free day. Those feeling active could explore the 5.6 km walking route through the LangeMeersen — a gorgeous stretch of nature right on the doorstep. A few ventured into the centre of Oudenaarde to catch the giants parade.

The afternoon was all about the BBQ: grilled sausages sponsored by our partner Thule. And as a sweet finale, local ice cream parlour 't Hof Vanys rolled up with a cart of artisan ice cream — every guest received a scoop courtesy of Carmotec. The perfect closing note for a fantastic weekend. At 6pm, the campers said goodbye to Oudenaarde, hearts full of wonderful memories and batteries fully recharged.
We want more!
